“In 1990, I was invited to the famous summer course at the Brasília Music School, where I met many incredible young people interested in becoming professional musicians one day. One of them caught my eye right away because I realized that he was special for many reasons, and I liked his way of being as soon as I saw him. Throughout the course, which lasted about 15 days, I confirmed that my intuition was correct, as dear Samuel brought me nothing but great satisfaction.
It was so nice to have him as a student that, at the end of the course, I took him aside and gave him my personal Omnibook (a book with many themes and solos by the famous and incredible saxophonist Charlie Parker). In this way, I wanted him to know how much I liked him, not only as a student and future professional musician, but also as a human being full of qualities such as seriousness, dedication, respect, and many other virtues.
After 26 years, Samuel contacted me and sent me a copy of his first CD, asking me to write a few lines about his work. I was very moved and happy to know, after so long, that the 15 days we spent together were not in vain.
I listened to all the tracks on the CD very carefully and was amazed by his beautiful sound on the baritone saxophone: a sound with a lot of texture, quality, and impeccable technique, as well as beautiful compositions combined with a top-notch team."
